About The Choluteca Home Health Program

Three people walk on a path, two wearing coats and holding an umbrella.

An Innovative Program for Choluteca, Honduras

Out of a desire for increasing the nursing school's impact around the city of Choluteca, the school continues to increase its outreach. Plans are being implemented for one team of 6 people for 4 months. The Choluteca Nursing High School has teamed up with the Regional Health Department to improve health in the local community. We will be monitoring and evaluating the impact this team has. This outreach will also serve to enable nursing school students to become involved in the healthcare system. (#25496)

Health Promoters are doing base-line surveys. They take the time to talk with the people, teaching and giving health care advice to help them stay at home. There are positive results with this type of program.

Graduates are passionate about improving lives. They have learned how to care compassionately for their communities and neighbors. They teach those they encounter how to care for themselves to avoid more serious illnesses.
